During a summer holiday in Normandy, Parisian student André takes his cousin Julie to the seashore under the pretext of a walk. With the aid of a watch and a newspaper carrying the tide-table, André accurately synchronizes their walk. Suddenly, they find themselves isolated on a rocky strip of land. Here, Julie, spontaneously docile, submissively does everything he asks her to do. As the water rises around them, so does the young man's climax.
