Synopsis

Shepherdesses are perfectly present-day, they often live alone but also with partners or with their family, and therefore they are fully involved in their social and economic communities. The film follows the director’s experience while living with them for some time, connecting with them deeply. These bonds of friendship and affection have become true narrative, spontaneous and intimate, of the protagonists’ motivations, difficulties and satisfactions.

Director statement

“It is a film with mingled measures, a sort of play based on the introduction and recurrent presence of different characters and stories, told in manifold languages and ways which belong both to past and present. Faces and landscapes, animals and actions, environment and weather, laughter and curses: they all follow one another in the ups and downs of measured rhythm, growing faster and slowing down again – always varied, always stimulating – at the brisk pace of narrative which then quiets down harmoniously.”
