Synopsis

Goran arrives in Italy from Macedonia in 1993. In just a short time, he gains the trust of many Barolo producers, for whom he works. He moves to Govone, where he rents a modest farmhouse, but everything starts to go wrong. When all seems lost, he decides to journey the other way, heading east, toward home. But Macedonia doesn’t seem to want him, either. A documentary which adheres to no particular order or plan, which follows the ghost of a story which risks remaining an unfulfilled wish. A tragic dream without an end, like the life of the protagonist.

Director statement

“I was interested in studying the life of an adventurer, who plays without a net, one of those people who always raise the stakes, who can’t stop, and who are condemned to lose. In our safe lives, low-risk but also low-speed […], Goran represents an idea of freedom, including the freedom to lose everything you have gained. But, deep down in human nature, this impulse, this crazy daring, has always existed and this is why it fascinates us.”
