Paolo and Giulia are drifters in their thirties. They start a trio at sundown on one of the state roads in the south of Italy. They have to reach Milan in a car they have borrowed in order to sign a contract concerning an engine fueled with city garbage. While they stop at a trattoria along the road, Paolo argues with the owner over the bill and is roughed up and thrown out. After the fight, Giulia goes through a feeling of being lost. She no longer identifies with her choice of the "traveling" life and tries to leave Paolo, but doesn't succeed. The couple make up and go on the road again. While they stop to rest, Giulia dreams that they are continuing their trip, but is interrupted by a traffic accident that wakes her up. While they are setting off again at dawn, the radio announces an accident that happened to a couple of thirty-year-olds on the same piece of road.

Prospero Bentivenga
Prospero Bentivenga (Castelsaraceno, Potenza; 1959) is an anthropology student at the Orient University of Naples. Since 1987 he has been editing and directing television and musical films. In 1988 he edited the stock footage projected in the seasons first play at the Little Theater Studio, Elvira e la passione teatrale, directed by Giorgio Strehler. He also edited the documentary film, Bologna 88, produced by the University of Bologna. In 1990 he edited the stock film footage projected in Roberto Cacciapaglia's opera, Un giorno X. which was directed by Gabriele Amadori and shown in world premiere at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory, Milan. In 1991 he directed the theatrical monologue, Tragoedia, by and with Carmen Luongo, selected for the Cairo Avantgarde Festival (Egypt). In 1992 he produced and directed the documentary film, L'a'ndenna di Castelsaraceno, which appeared in the XI Bilan du Film Ethnographique at the Musée de l'Homme (Paris). He participated in the staging of the theatrical monologue, Anna. Written by Annibale Ruccello, Anna featured Carmen Luongo and appeared in the International Festival of the Arts, Differenti Sensazioni 9, in Grugliasco (Turin).
