Marco is, or rather, wants to be a screenwriter, but is forced to earn his living as an adaptor and translator of dialogues from soap operas, because of the hard times that Italian cinema is going through now. He is disappointed by the problems that the dubbing studio he is working for is going through now. Besides, the prospective producer of his screenplay rejected it in its present form. Instead, the producer wants his screenplay to have a surprise ending at all costs. Marco had written the screenplay about his personal life experiences and so decides to give his own existence a surprise ending by filming his own suicide with a video camera. However, while he is hanging himself, the video camera falls down and frames only his heels that are dangling in the air...

Roberto Meddi

Roberto Meddi (Rome, 1953) began to work in film in 1974 as scene assistant to Tazio Secchiaroli. Subsequently, he crossed over from photography to film and worked assisting several directors of photography for films such as Scola's Una giornata particolare, Samper'is Nenè, and Rosi's Cristo si è fermato a Eboli. In 1980 he worked as director of photography for the first time in Paolo Bologna's Fuori dal giorno. Since that time, he has worked with many of the contemporary directors in Italian film: Eronico and Cecca (Viaggio in città and Stesso sangue), Felice Farina (Sposi, Affetti speciali), Marzio Casa (Ma non per sempre), Pino Quartullo (Quando eravamo depressi), Stefania Casini (Vincere per vincere and I cavalieri del cross), Francesco Calogero (Nessuno), Giuseppe Piccioni (Chiedi la luna and Condannato a nozze), and Pappi Corsicato (Libera). He worked as director of photography in many music videos with many of the most important directors in this field, including Gianfranco Giagni, Piccio Raffanini, Ambrogio Lo Giudice, Alex Infascelli, Christian de Sica, and Carlo Mazzacurati.
