Nina Mimica (Spalato, Croatia, 1967) spent her first twenty four years of life swimming and her last three years making short films at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia "because there is no sea in Rome". She received her diploma in directing in 1994. Open House was the Italian candidate for the Oscar in 1995.
