There is an immense chemical products factory with its innumerable multicolored tubes, its towers, and its glass cages all mysterious to the layman. This is the setting which Juli, an eighteenyearold high school student, and her classmates enter in order to do a practical workshop. On the same day, Piri, a worker with a tumultuous past, starts to work at the factory. The engineer prepares feverishly for a race of remotecontrol ships. Juli's father takes delight in sculpture. Juli's companions devote themselves to romantic adventures. Piri's parents love hard liquor but not work. The summer passes like this without anything happening, and yet so many things happen...

"I should say that I have come ahead to evaluate the new Hungarian satirical film entitled Ismeri a szandimandit?
1) We are dealing with the first experimental film of the director, Livia Gyarmathy, and screenwriter, Géza Boszormeyi.
2) Because the young artistic couple is moving with familiarity in that environment where they had previously only gone to 'wander around'.
3) Because they let themselves put forward the serious things they have to say in a manner that is hardly serious.
4) Because they ramble about in that promising genre of the 'grotesque lyric'.
5) Because their virtues are not annoying and their mistakes not repugnant.
6) Because they want to address thousands of people, but only a couple of thousand can understand them. In short, this film made me a movie-goer instead of a critic without aiming to hoodwink me or trying to corrupt me." (Pongrac Galsai, "Filmkultura", 4/1969)
