Before leaving for the city, Meithèbre collects the errands of the villagers. In the bush taxi taking him to the capital, all his thoughts are concentrated on the sum of 30,000 CFA Francs that have been entrusted to him. A few years later we find him the well-off owner of a fabric shop. In his free time, he takes private lessons to learn how to read and write. When a person from the village finds him and asks for his money back, Meithèbre brusquely refuses. If they want their money back, the villagers have to "learn" to defend themselves.
