Two years in the life of Aundrey Burno, one of many young Afro-Americans locked up in Washington's federal prison. As he awaits his trial for the attempted homicide of a policeman and the murder of an eighteen-year-old, Burno faces the hard reality of a convict's life. The accusation of also being responsible for another knifing makes a possible sentence of 115 years in prison if found guilty. As his eighteenth birthday approaches, Burno reflects on his young life and tries to convince Kevin, his younger brother, to not follow his bad example.
