27-year-old Adam has a very artistic girlfriend and a good job at a radio station. But his life is turned upside down when he is diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. The young man finds himself dealing with the contradictions generated by his health and with the illogical reactions of his friends and family: Kyle, who uses his friend’s illness to hook up with girls; his mother, who is engulfed by her own fears and thus loses sight of her son’s needs; Rachael, who tries not to think about her boyfriend’s condition by throwing herself into a frenetic social life; and Katherine, his novice psychotherapist.

“The actors are driving the story. I have a tendency to want to do cool stuff with the camera, but I had to tone down my visual approach. That’s not to say that there isn’t some cool visual stuff, but the movie is more about the performances and letting the actors find the truth in the situation. The fact that Will wrote an amazingly funny and sincere script about illness was a great asset to me.”
