Declaration
film director
“Inspired by the horror genre and our own experiences with our bodies, we wanted to ground this movie in our lead character's physical pain, while making her an unconventional ‘final girl.’ She exists in a familiar horror film setting but with the added visceral reality of her menstruation. Women will recognize that the objectified girl in the film is dealing with her own private horror movie with her own body. In mapping out her journey with both her body and the male characters objectifying her, we couldn’t help but find humor by taking her situation to an extreme level of physical discomfort. Ultimately, we hope to bring out the humor and relatability in woman’s horrific night and leave our audiences feeling a complicated sense of relief.”
