On Abidjan television, Monsieur Kouassika, a peasant who has only recently left his village, relates his experiences. After years of hard work at the harbour, he succeeds in making a decent life for himself and appears again on television, this time completely different and speaking in correct French. He has adjusted perfectly to his new style of urban life. His two wives from the village are no longer enough for him. Kouassika is looking for better things and begins to court Nicole, an elegant secretary. To win over the ambitious Nicole, who is looking for a husband, he tells her all sorts of lies, pretending to be a ministry official. But his sins find him out and for Kouassika the only way out is to take the road back to the village.
