An apocalyptic setting, a deserted city. The streets empty out, the houses fill up. Life has changed, inside and outside. Everything rebounds, between moments of family intimacy and hospitals that transform themselves. An airport that has been turned into a morgue, an ambulance that transports an infected person, the crematory temple. In the meantime, there is a new intimacy in homes. Painful testimony of the period marked by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Davide Bongiovanni
(1972, Turin, Italy) graduated in Visual Design and Visual Arts from the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan. In 2005, he created the communications agency Arsenale and since 2015 makes commercials, institutional videos, museum installations, and shorts. With Francesco de Souza, he has also made photographic reports.

“I came up with the idea for this short one night in March, during the lockdown. Fear of the future and the desire to make a contribution convinced me to recount COVID-19 from my point of view. I used a GoPro mounted on the chest of a nurse or on a CPAP hood, to show subjective sensations. The shoulder-held camera was used in the COVID-19-clean wards, while the interviews were conducted by the individuals concerned, who were provided with the proper equipment.”
