Julien Cunillera (Paris, 1969) began his film career with five short Super8 fiction films made between 1984 and 1989. He founded the film review, "Bande à part", in 1989. He received a degree (DEUG) in film studies at the University of Paris VIII-Saint Denis. In 1993 he collaborated on a couple of screenplays and made his first 35mm short film.
