"August, 1997. Two days of sets in the land of Otranto for Tonino De Bernardi and his crew. The news filters through the olive groves, stops in the bars, reaches the beach, and a beach umbrella refreshes it. The group guided by Tonino occupies the empty space inside a quarry in the Lecce area in Cursi and an abandoned lighthouse on the coast of Otranto. Opposite this lies Albania. Tonino slips in, fills his images with poetry and humanity, and creates his film. He has a very personal way of directing combining imagination, dream, and childhood on silent and generous sets, just like the south of these places. We are in Salentine Greece, frequently the natural theater of ethnic presence, of cultures, and peoples in the history of humanity. I guided the telecamera with a lot of discretion. In the middle of my shooting, my viewfinder broke, and so I was like a blind man. From that time on it was the telecamera that guided me and that was possible on Tonino's set" (Raffaele Schito).
