Elizabeth Carlson leaves Wisconsin and moves to New York, where she meets Greg Miller, a photographer who believes in her and gets her pictures published in an important magazine. At a party, the model meets Daniel, a fascinating violinist, and falls in love with him. The musician is tormented by the death of his father, who died at Auschwitz, and by the terrorist Rivas, who killed his mother in an attack. When he goes to Paris for a series of concerts, Daniel tries to infiltrate Elizabeth into extremist circles in order to get to Rivas.

James Toback

James Toback was born in 1946. He graduated from Harvard University and taught at the City College of New York. He worked as a reporter for magazines such as "Esquire", "Harpers", "Dissent", and "Commentary". In 1974 he debuted as a feature film screenwriter with The Gambler, directed by Karel Reisz. He won an Oscar nomination in 1991 for his screenplay for Bugsy, directed by Warren Beatty. His first film as a director was Fingers, starring Harvey Keitel. His documentary, The Big Bang, won him an Oscar in 1989.
