A video anthology made from material taken from two collective films produced in 1970 by the Italian Filmmakers' Committee Against Repression to document the events that led up to the still mysterious death of the anarchist, Giuseppe Pinelli. A short prologue edited from period footage describes the period between 1968 and the Piazza Fontana bombing as it introduces the first film, Giuseppe Pinelli, Materiale n. 1, directed by Nelo Risi in 1970. Pinelli's wife Licia, his political companions, and his friends bring back the events of December 16, 1969, when Pinelli fell to his death from the window of the police headquarters in Milan. The second film, Ipotesi sulla morte di Giuseppe Pinelli, Materiale n. 2, directed by Elio Petri, reconstructs the theories that the police came up with to explain his death. These two films that have been re-edited here have been signed collectively by some of the most important Italian directors.

Guido Albonetti
Guido Albonetti (Rome, 1949) has made many documentaries for RAI as director, and director of photography and of editing. He has made industrial and scientific films for the CNR and has also collaborated with foreign companies and television networks. He has taught vocational training courses to makers of audio-visual products. Most recently, he has begun to work in the field of cinematographic preservation and restoration, with particular emphasis on new technologies that are being experimented within the FIAF international protocol.
