Diego is 23 years old and works as a typesetter at the same place where his father worked until he went into early retirement to make room for his son. This, too, contributes to Diego's sense of an existence which, in its repetitiousness, seems to be already lived out. One day, on an impulse, he leaves his job and the rhythms of the city and goes in search of something indefinite which the image of a postcard his friend Matteo had sent him some time before had awoken in him. As he searches for his friend, Diego unconsciously finds himself living Matteo's life: his house, his friends, his sense of the meaning of life.
"In the end even I'm not quite sure how I ended up here, maybe it's just a result of my looking for a friend who maybe has simply left. Speaking of whom ...he always used to tell me, 'Don't ever laugh at other people's dreams, people who don't have dreams don't have much of anything'. Diego, the leading character, says this in the film, it describes what I tried to recount and my relationship with the film I have made" (Cesare Cicardini).

Cesare Cicardini
Cesare Cicardini was born in Milan in 1969. He got his start by following a piece of advice of Truffaut's: watch one film a day for a year. After a few small projects he produced himself, in 1997 he graduated from the Scuola di Cinema of Milan. He made two short films, Il Confine and In Coppia, before making his first full-length film, La Precisione del Caso.
