Kijima Hitoshi is a World War II veteran who has lived all his life with remorse for having abandoned a fellow soldier he had met at the front to his tragic destiny. For this reason, when Tamio suggests that he take part in a veterans' reunion, he refuses. However, he learns that the granddaughter of the man killed in the war will be at the gathering. Hitoshi changes his mind and shows up. The granddaughter, Yuriko, has a boyfriend who has just been hired by Utopia Corporation. The company pretends to help the elderly, but instead tries to rob them. Kijima decides to unmask their unscrupulous plans.

"As a child, my father and my grandmother often talked to me about the Second World War. The B - 29 unloaded their bombs and their lives were constantly in danger. They were always hungry. There was little to eat. I think that a lot of people went through the same experience. However, these stories should not be generalized. Each of them is a personal experience" (Shinozaki Makoto).
