In an old hotel in Rome, four foreigners meet for the same reason: to find the beloved one. Adriano, the psychoanalyst, wishes to find Stéphanie, who disappeared in the city. Alice to meet Sergio, her Italian lover who, no longer awaits her. Laure to reach Hans who left everything for her. This amorous scenario, common to all, will take different paths, according to the law of desire that stubbornly governs each of the characters. That desire which operates outside the rules of reason and interest, and which constitutes a real enigma ... because for ony lover the loved one remains impenetrable, unobtainable, inaccessible. An enigma, therefore a fiction ... but a fiction in three times orchestrated by the noises, by the tears, by the countless words of the loving passion.

Danièle Dubroux
Danièle Dubroux was an editor of «Cahiers du Cinéma» from 1976 to 1985. She made some short films. In 1984 she made his first feature film, Les Amants terribles, winner of numerous awards. She often appears as an actress in her films.
