A classic of Brazilian cinema. A man and two women in a boat adrift on the ocean. The shipwrecked people have stopped rowing and seemed resigned to their destiny. One after another they tell their story. In the end the water starts seeping into the boat. A storm breaks out. When the water is calm once again, there is only the first woman hanging on to a piece of the boat. Slowly the images dissolve into a sea of light. "Limite radicalizes Gance's formula: cinema is the music of light. An ingenious film, which fits into the tradition of avant-garde European films, but which surpasses it by far in savagery, the movie camera films harshly, shockingly brutally" (J. Bressane).
