Two hapless American friends, Gabe and Bryce, travel through western
Europe all the way to Turkey. After losing all their money, they come up
with a plan to interview a terrorist in the hopes of later selling the
interview. But the undertaking ends up being more difficult than the two
friends thought, and they decide to fake their own kidnapping, causing a
long series of unexpected events.
"Prior to embarking on my first narrative adventure, I was inspired by a
tradition of Iranian filmmakers who produce innovative films despite or
even fueled by their significant limitations. With Crude, my
initial attempt was to create something with cross-cultural appeal that
would be slightly quirky- yet not slip into the realm of stereotype" (P.
Winter).
