An average long feature film has been taken from Lovecraft's tale, divided into three TV episodes. Randolph Carter with his dreamlike adventures is a recurrent character in Lovecraft's novels because it allows his usual dread, a kind of suspension between legend and tradition, between dream and an uncertain and altered wake. The main theme is very suggestive: refusing the real world, the adult one of conventional hypocrisy, Carter gains again the key to a world of dreams he had been losing while growing up.
