Noël is a different kind of man. He has maintained his innocence and
opposes social conformism with nothing but his intuition, his sensuality
and, above all, his complicity with nature and its elements. He is
considered the village idiot and finds refuge and understanding only
with a young girl. Olivia, the teacher he is in love with, can't accept
and comprehend his behavior, which she believes is primitive.
"Noël's point of view is also the film's point of view. Joël films
Noël's perception of the world. The elements represent equality: water
is as important as a dog, a sheep, a child, a woman, clay, time, the
landscape… Joël's film lives through sensations: those of nature's
elements, Noël's intuitions. A form of truth is born of the sensations."
