When words gets out that the mafia boss Hung is about to leave the Triad, his
underlings Figo, Tall Guy and Big Lungs hatch a plot to get more power and
prevent Lefty, the boss' right-hand man, from taking over command. In the
meantime, the thug Yik, who is supposed to kill a powerful gangster, falls in
love with Yoyo, a girl who is forced to prostitute herself in order to settle
old debts. Their paths will all cross at dawn, under a pouring rainstorm.
"Jiang Hu doesn't necessarily refer to triad society, although in this film it
just so happens it's the stage for the plot. It also refers to a
community, as a metaphor for our society. It is not a mainstream film, it isn't about big budget. It's about getting
people to go out to the cinema to see the movie. I try to give the audience a new perspective in
watching movies, and hope the audience will in turn come away with new
perspectives on their daily lives."
