Schegge di utopia: Ritratto di Franco Brocani

Country: Italy
Year: 2004
Duration: 45'

Even if Brocani remained kind of isolated from the Italian experimental cinema, nobody can deny that his Necropolis has become, as Di Marino puts it, like a zip, an interface between some experiences of Off culture of that time and a more complex idea of film experimentation which desired more visibility. Brunatto and Zeichen, trying to portray Brocani, had to refer to his friendship with Mario Schifano, his travel mate of a lifetime. Necropolis by Brocani is a film totally out of fashion, conservative in its need to represent and sublimate narcissistically the "sense" of history, a distant answer to a political question raised in Trapianto, consunzione e morte di Franco Brocani by Mario Schifano.
