A halál kilovagolt perzsiából

Death Rode out of Persia

Country: Austria
Year: 2004
Duration: 90'

After three years of drunkenness, a writer comes to the conclusion that he should not just simply drink but also work, and, first of all, he should stop drinking his wine diluited with soda-water, because this habit made him a wine spritzer and downing him in disgust.

"Béla Tarr asked me if I had any plans. I showed him the idea of the film and he liked it. This is a film with an extremely low budget, but the friendship between its creators helped us through the initial obstacles. I'd like to mention cinematographer Sebestyén Kodolányi in the first place. He is also a co-author. We shot a 17-minute version of the film together five years ago. Directors should rest for 3-4 years between films. A film has to be carried like a child. The film is the adaptation of a novel by Péter Hajnóczy. My goal is to help the man, who was one of the greatest writers in the 20th century, to find the place it deserves. The film is about creation, and how someone overcomes suffering and starts to write." (P. Horváth)
