Sicily, 2006. The election campaign for the region president begins, the contenders are: Rita Borsellino, a pragmatical and militant woman taken up with anti-mafia, and Totò Cuffaro, the outgoing governor investigated for aiding and abetting at Cosa Nostra. Two names that immediately bestow a wider meaning at the political confrontation and at the institutional fight between the right and the left wing. The documentary narrates the ransom attempt of those Sicilians that, supporting Borsellino, dreamt of breaking up the political and social system in order to have another (hi)story. "There are two Sicilies. One is in Totò Cuffaro's face whereas on the other side there is another face, the face of the cult of memory wardens and cultivators, not as a family album but as the only civil compass for not loosing the best part of us: our consciousness, the consciousness of not yelding to injustice. Marco Battaglia, Gianluca Donati, Laura Schimmenti, Andrea Zulini come from different professional experiences in the direction and video editing ambit. In 2000 they began their collaboration with the production society Playmaker, realizing documentaries centred on society, topical and culture. In 2002 they founded Telefabbrica, the street TV that follows the union demonstrations of the FIAT workers of Termini Imerese; they also realized several reportages on the work themes in Sicily.
