Sostiene Ferreri

According to Ferreri

Country: Italy
Year: 2007
Duration: 30'

Sostiene Ferreri is a tribute to the extraordinary powers of communication of Marco Ferreri, who always surprised and fascinated any journalist who interviewed him. Sometimes people would go to him like an oracle; he was often asked to give his opinion and he always and generously obliged. In general, to me, interviewing him was unknown territory and I’d often wait until the last moment, almost to put his back against the wall and make him feel sorry for me. But in the end, all the questions and speeches I had prepared in advance were useless because he always made the final decision.”

“What was fascinating about Ferreri on his sets was his gruff, sometimes aggressive, but also joking way of interacting with his actors and the troupe. His presence was never quiet or subdued. Ferreri rarely explained the action to his actors before shooting, sometimes he’d give a few indications but on the whole he preferred to intervene during the rehearsals to correct a line or an expression to which only he had the key. He would rarely shoot the same take more than twice, and whether or not it was a good take was something only he knew for sure.”
