A voyage along the border between Mexico and the United States,
described by the people who live in this desolate borderland with
abandoned roads, ghost towns, desert landscapes, rocky formations
and broad rivers that flow by in solitude.

“The notion of border is a metaphysic, political and military idea but
also a ‘state of mind’. I’m fascinated by the relation America has with
borders. The history of America is a history of borders, I think. The word
‘frontier’ for example has a very important history, it was the dividing
line between the old East and the new West, between wilderness and
civilization. The frontier was therefore not fixed, but a very mobile line.
Where it started and where it ended was not really clear. The Frontier
was most off all a state of mind. In the myth of the Far West it was
a place without law and rules. Now, la Frontera, the Border, the line
between Mexico and the USA is next to be a very geopolitical and
sometimes physical line, also a place of identity, a way of living that
is sometimes in contrast with the limit that the border becomes more
and more.”
