YANG YANG
Yang Yang is twenty years old; her mother is from Taiwan and her father is French. She has never met her father and her dream of having a real family finally comes true when her mother remarries. But the new family is a disappointment; Yang Yang runs away from home and finds herself once more having to cope with her loneliness. She decides to get into show business with the help of an agent. But when she is chosen to play the part of a girl with French origins in a film, her identity problems cause her inner trauma to emerge.

“Three years ago when I shot my first feature, I met Sandrine Pinna, who was half French and half Taiwanese. Thanks to their beauty, people of mixed ethnicity enjoy an enormous advantage in show business in Taiwan, probably because we’re greatly influenced by western aesthetic standards. What I see under Sandrine’s gorgeous face is incredible optimism, bravery and kindness. It was Sandrine who inspired me to write the script. I hope through this film I can express that beauty I have observed.”
