the quartet Four elderly musicians prepare to give a concert in a church. It is a cloudless day and the sun illuminates the countryside. The three other musicians have already arrived at the church but the cellist can’t find his shoes and just misses the bus. He is forced to cross the countryside barefoot and arrives when the concert has already begun. When he joins his companions, the notes of his cello soften a melody that until then had been strident and the sunset inundates the stained glass windows with light, filling the church with memories. “How to talk about unity, film music, follow the transition from comedy to tragedy, capture the passage of sunlight in a church, show friendship without using words… These are some of the questions that guided me during the making of this film. I wanted to explore the absurd feeling of running after oneself and observe a character advancing towards higher understanding. In this way, the film is an accompaniment, both that of a friend and that of the baroque music that were sung to accompany the setting sun.”
