the hunter Ali has just gotten out of prison. He has a night job but tries to spend as much time as he can with his family. He has also taken up his hobby once again: hunting. But the man’s life is devastated by the accidental death of his wife, who was hit by a stray bullet during a shootout, and by the subsequent disappearance of his daughter. The man’s frustration and horror grow after he goes to the police station. Ali decides to shoulder his rifle and goes beyond the limit, until the line between hunter and hunted becomes blurred. “The film concentrates on hunting down to explore the pressure of a time bomb society. The hunter could obviously be seen as the leading character Ali, but there can also be other interpretations. Keeping things open is an important element of my filmmaking. In Iran, when we invite someone to dinner, we offer our guests as many dishes as possible. But at the dinner they are free to choose themselves what to eat. I respect the audience by allowing them the choice to think as they would like.”
