A visual essays on Bernardo Bertolucci’s The Conformist (1970), analyzed in relationship with his older works and featuring an interview with the director. “Actually they are two very different proposals, two distinct ‘visual essays’ – that is writing an essay through images – that go beyond a regular report written with words, delivering an essay written with images and sounds, that is a mode homologous to the object of critical discourse. Designed to be extra features in the DVD version, they also want to go beyond the regular way these are conceived, to stand as examples of what can be done in the field of critical contributions that accompany the digital edition of movies.”
