The year is 2020. Naples is the safest, cleanest and most modern city on Earth, thanks to its new mayor, Nicolino Amore, who was born in dire poverty but climbed the social ladder. In the beginning, he only tries to enjoy the good life, but when he realizes that he is betraying his people he decides to take on and solve the major problem which has always afflicted his city, drug trafficking, by following the advice of a powerful and repentant “godmother”: legalize drugs. “Despite the fact that it’s a parody and a flight of fantasy, the film is set up like a true documentary. I was inspired by the Anglo-Saxon historical and scientific documentaries and all their stylistic features: the narrating voice, the combination of archival and amateur images, the use of photographs, interviews with normal people and authorities. I think that comedy is able to conduct a profound analysis of burning issues like crime or drug trafficking, but it also creates an entertaining product that is able to involve a large number of spectators.”
