A young couple of Americans, Gil and Inez, are on a trip to Paris with the parents of the girl, John and Helen. For John it’s a business trip. For Gil, a scriptwriter who’s fed up with Hollywood life, this trip is an opportunity to find some inspiration for his first novel. His girlfriend, though, tries to discourage him, believing a career as screenwriter would much more profitable. Gil had lived in the French capital for some time when he was young and soon the charm of the city captures him once again: conquered by the Parisian night, the scriptwriter finds himself living in the 1920s, meeting his most beloved writers and artists of the times. “I get great enjoyment out of presenting Paris to the cinema audience the way I see it. Just as with New York, where I present it one way, and other directors present it other ways, somebody else could come and shoot Paris in a completely different way. I want to present it my way, projecting my own feelings about it.”
