Four friends living together in a mansion in Wellington. Their cohabitation is rather peaceful, and there is a party every evening. Too bad they all end in a bloodbath: the four friends are in fact all vampires of different ages (or rather, centuries) constantly looking for new virgins to satiate their appetites. Few can resist the temptation of eternal life.

Taika Waititi
Taika Waititi (Wellington, New Zealand, 1975) is an actor, painter and photographer. Co-founder of the production company Defender Films with the screenwriter Ainsley Gardiner, he has made numerous short films of which Two Cars, One Night was nominated for an Oscar. In 2007 his debut feature film Eagle vs Shark screened in the Berlinale section Generation.

Jemaine Clement
Jemaine Clement (New Zealand, 1974) is an actor, director, producer, comedian and writer. He plays in his band Flight of the Conchords, founded with Bret McKenzie. The HBO series Flight of the Conchords (2007-2009) is dedicated to the fictional life of the band.

“In 2011, we were approached to make a vampire documentary documenting the vampires of Wellington. We’d heard stories about vampires. We’d seen Blade 3. We thought we don’t want to be in the room with those creatures, and that’s very much the way we approached it. But I think it was the wrong. We came to love those guys, they’re really great guys. I guess that’s about putting aside preconceived ideas. They’re not all Brad Pitt types. They have wants and needs just like us. When we filmed them, we started to think who is a real vampire? Is it them drinking the blood of humans or was it us the filmmakers?”
