PANAMERICAN MACHINERY
by Joaquín del Paso
Country: Mexico, Poland
Year: 2016

The Maquinaria Panamericana garage is an ideal place to work: the mood is perfect, there’s harmony among the employees, the rhythm is relaxed and nobody ever says no to a coffee break. All this under the benevolent gaze of their boss, Don Alejandro. This is why the employees are thrown into a panic one morning when they find him dead. Not only have they lost the best boss in the world but they soon discover that they also risk losing their jobs, since the garage is bankrupt. Declaration

film director

“The film is like a reminder of a world that is about to disappear, and also a satirical comment on the current state of things in my country and around the world.
The situation in Mexico is so fragile, economically and politically, that people live in a constant state of fear. We hold on to what we have earned with desperation and just the idea of a new crisis leads to collective panic.”
