LET THE SUMMER NEVER COME AGAIN

A young man comes to the city from a village to audition for a dance company. He takes part in illegal, underground street fights for money. He sleeps with men for money. He falls in love with a man. He starts to dance in a company. The man he loves goes to the war; the young man goes back to his village.

“War is always part of things I do – even when I don’t plan or want it. It reflects itself in everything. Knowing that gives me possibility to put war as a subject on the peripheries of the story and visually to let it completely disappear. In the film the word war is told three times, one of the main characters is a military officer but we never see him in uniform. It is a story of love between two men which finds its end because of war. Like with the subject of war I also don’t believe in possibility of visualizing or emotional retelling of the subject of love – that’s why this dramaturgically essential element happens also on visual peripheries of the film.”
