by Wim Wenders
Country: GFR, France, UK
Year: 1984
Duration: 145'

Vagabond Travis is found wandering in the desert, alone and thirsty, by his brother Walt, who takes him back to Los Angeles. There, he sees his young son Hunter, whom he had abandoned years earlier. He learns that his ex-wife, Jane, whom he divorced but never got over, deposits a sum of money every month in a bank in Houston for their child. Travis takes his son with him and goes in search of his wife. He finds her in a peep-show in Texas, where the woman has become a prostitute. When Jane recognizes him, the two clear up just why their love ended and he gives little Hunter back to her before taking off on his own again.

Biography

film director

Wim Wenders

Wim Wenders (Düsseldorf, Germany, 1945) is considered one of the most influential and innovative filmmakers alive. Over the decades, he grappled with themes like travel and loss (Alice in the Cities, Wrong Move, Kings of the Road, and Until the End of the World), the exploration of humanity (Wings of Desire, Faraway, So Close!, and The State of Things), the discovery of beauty (Buena Vista Social Club), pain and illness (The American Friend, Paris, Texas, and Million Dollar Hotel), and cinema (Nick’s Movie - Lightning Over Water, and The State of Things). He has received some of the most prestigious awards (including the Honorary Golden Bear from the 2015 Berlin Film Festival) and, in 2007, the Torino Film Festival paid tribute to his career in its retrospective section.
