THE DISASTER ARTIST

THE DISASTER ARTIST
by James Franco
Country: USA
Year: 2017
Duration: 98'

Greg is a young aspiring actor studying drama in San Francisco. Despite his mediocre performances, he seems to be utterly unware of his complete lack of talent. Frustrated and demotivated, he befriends Tommy, a classmate whose over the top style clashes with Greg’s stiffness on stage. With disastrous results. Tommy is an eccentric character, inexorably enthusiastic, who hides his age with suspicions and intentional mystery, as well as where he’s from and how he got his money. The duo moves to Los Angeles, ready to take on Hollywood, but they are turned down a thousand times, and often humiliated. Since no one seems to give them a chance, Tommy decides to singlehandedly write, direct, and produce The Room, their debut feature. According to his plans, the movie will launch them in the golden world of the Star System. The resulting film is all over the place, becoming a cult classic defined by many as “the worst film ever made.” Based on a true story.
