A young girl is getting ready to welcome a client at her apartment. The man, transposition of Don Quixote in a 1990s Milan, devotes himself to the maniacal cleaning of four rooms. The girl, personification of Dulcinea, eats, reads, paints her nails and smokes. She dresses up and gets undress as if Don Quixote was not there. The client, following a pathological scheme, steals some girl’s objects, putting them in plastic bags. Sometimes the objects being fetishized are destroyed. This mechanism leads to the repetition of a celibate and solitary rite.

Luca Ferri
Luca Ferri works with images and words. His movies partecipated to national and international film festivals. At Torino Film Festival he was selected in 2013, in Italiana.doc competition, with the documentary Habitat [Piavoli], codirected with Claudio Casazza, and in 2014 and 2015 in Onde section, with the following Abacuc and the short La società dei servizi, directed with Enrico Mazzi. In 2016 his short Colombi was selected at the Orizzonti section in Venice. Dulcinea has been part of Signs of Life section, in the last Locarno Film Festival. Pierino (2018) was selected at Filmmaker Mina, and then the documentary feature La casa dell'amore premiered at Berlinale Forum in 2020.

“Dulcinea is the first of three works entirely shot inside domestic locations. I have called it ‘Trilogy of the apartment.’ […] In Dulcinea the solitude permeating the characters is an absent presence, hidden by methodical actions and by the predictable sequence of events, which apparently situates them outside of time and human miseries. The actors, being deprived from any psychologism, adhere for the entire work to a plastered posture, taking the audience in front of a puppet pièce of exhumation and fetishistic sexuality.”
