What happened when the Italian photographer Vittorio Alinari and the French painter Gaston Vuillier discovered Sardinia in the early 1900s? The short film takes its cue from “Viaggio in Sardegna,” an exhibit organized by the Fondazione di Sardegna and dedicated to discovering the island and its charms through photography and the figurative arts.

Declaration
film director
“I was immediately fascinated by the Fondazione di Sardegna's project and the choices made by Marco Delogu and Maria Paola Dettori, the curators of Viaggio in Sardegna - Lo sguardo esterno. In particular, I was fascinated by the previously unpublished photographs by Paolo Ventura (a photographer from Milan, born in 1968), which he shot while he was living on the island, that dialogue between past and present with a selection of shots taken in the early 1900s by Vittorio Alinari and the magnificent paintings by Gaston Vuillier. The primary goal was to 'depict' the Italian photographer Vittorio Alinari and the French artist Gaston Vuillier, who visited the most charming corners of our island in the early 1900s. What happened when they discovered this land? That was my starting point.”
