Scenes of life in Turin: shots of the Mirafiori racecourse with crowded grandstands and horse races; the Valentino park; the Michelotti dam; the Fountain of the Four Seasons at the foot of Monte dei Cappuccini; the funicular that carried passengers all the way up to Monte dei Cappuccini and the sign of the famous “birraria,” or rather, a bar selling beer located near the upper station; the Basilica of Superga.

Family movie. Shots of a day by the sea in Liguria (perhaps the beach of Sestri Levante). The images show women and children playing on the beach and playacting bizarre attacks.
Dopolavoro STIPEL
(Italy, 1941-1951, 10’)
Employees at the recreational club of the company STIPEL (a Piedmontese and Lombard inter-regional telephone company founded in Turin in 1925), some of their respective family members, filmed between 1941 and 1951. In the background, downtown Turin can be seen from the roof of the new STIPEL building, “Palazzo dei Telefoni,” with its recreational area complete with swimming pool and ping-pong tables.

Soldiers riding on military and civilian vehicles on Turin's downtown streets celebrate the Liberation of Italy from Nazi occupation. The parade winds its way down Via Roma and through Piazza Castello, In the background, buildings damaged by bullets and bombing raids.
Sangue e baffi

Family movie. Clips of a production that imitates gangster movies. A group of young people have fun imitating the archetypes of gangster films, created in Prohibition-era America, Little Caesar-style: cigarette in the corner of the mouth, glass of whiskey in hand, Borsalino hat on head, dark pinstripe suit, pistol aimed at chest height, dark glasses.
Orlando furioso

Family movie. A pleasant and amusing amateur adaptation of the chivalric poem by Ludovico Ariosto, Orlando furioso. The cast is composed entirely of children.

Il tesoro della caverna (Anni ’20)
Amateur film made by a family of Lombard origins. The movie recounts the adventures of Albert and Dolly during a treasure hunt in India. A digital restoration made in 2022 at the Cineteca's laboratory during an internship.
