Declaration

film director

Isla Negra is my third feature film, based on real events, specifically on the testimonies of families evicted from their homes along the coastal areas of Chile. Through this story, the film explores the housing crisis and the impact of real estate development on vulnerable communities, creating a deeply human narrative about the struggle to preserve one’s home against interests that seek to transform the land these families have inhabited for generations. This focus gives Isla Negra significant social relevance by connecting the characters’ experiences with broader issues affecting Chile. However, the film transcends local concerns to address a universal struggle: the search for a home in a context of growing social and economic inequality. The depiction of contemporary situations makes the film a reflection of the current reality while also offering a critique of the policies that perpetuate these tensions.”
