In a city rattled by the economic crisis, one night a boy and a girl meet by chance on their way home. To reach their destinations, they have to cross neighborhoods infested with street gangs and criminals. A journey through the night for two young individuals looking for the meaning of life in today’s Italy. In order to see the light of dawn, they will have to face their demons.

Davide Sibaldi

Davide Sibaldi (Milan, Italy, 1987) made his first short film Il cercatore in 1998, followed by more that forty other projects and many film festival participations. In 2010, he made his first feature film L’estate d’inverno; it was presented at the Rome International Film Festival, won awards at the Chicago Country Film Festival and at the European Independent Film Festival, and was finally distributed in Italian movie theatres. Sibaldi recently directed In Guerra (2014), Un’alba in Messico (2014), and he is currently wrapping up the comedy-drama La strada per la felicità. He is also a painter and an illustrator of children’s books, like Gli angeli bambini, which was published in 2002 by Ape Editore/Salani.

“By the time we finished writing the screenplay, there were over forty characters. I finally realized the absurdity of presenting a film this massive to a production company, so I decided to produce it myself. My idea, which I then put in practice, was to make it a big coproduction with the actors and crew. They worked on the project for free and got in return a share proportional to their level of participation. I covered all the out-of-pocket expenses. […] In the end, all of these shareholders of ours got a percentage of the film’s grossing: it was a common investment, so they should all be treated equally."
