THE HOMESMAN

THE HOMESMAN
by Tommy Lee Jones
Country: USA
Year: 2014
Duration: 122'

A horse-drawn wagon crossing Nebraska’s wilderness. The woman pulling the reins is a kind-hearted spinster by the name of Mary Bee Cuddy. She is accompanying three women driven insane from the harsh life on the frontier. Their final destination is a church in Iowa, where the wife of a local reverend is waiting to take care of them. An old drifter, who claims to be called George Briggs, escorts them along the dangerous journey to pay off his debt to Mary Bee. The four hundred miles that separate this motley crew from civilization are filled with unexpected twists, blood, and strong emotions.

Declaration

film director

“I don’t know how the term ‘Western’ is defined. I have the impression over the years that the western is a movie that has horses in it and big hats and that takes place in the 19th century usually on the west side of the Mississippi river. I’ve even read critics who are bold enough to call a science fiction movie a Western. It’s a term that people use so often that I don’t think it has much meaning anymore”
