Pearl, a middle-aged, chain smoking mermaid and who can't swim, is the owner of Scotland's premier aquatic fantasy sex line. She lives a totally different life from her enchanting ancestors, but, when Sadie, her best friend, reveals her a shocking truth, Pearl is forced to face her fears: she is the last mermaid alive and if she wants her race to continue she must get pregnant quick, if she wants to save her race from extinction.

Fi Kelly
(UK) trained at the BBC, where she made music and comedy films; she has worked with many artist, including Victoria Wood, Kenneth Branagh and Robert Altman. She then worked as a screenwriter and director at the National Film and Television School and directed nine episodes of the BBC drama series Doctor. The Last Mermaid (2019) is her first cinematic short film.
