David is a young man who seems normal to everybody but really he hates his parents and does not let himself be touched by anybody out of fear of contracting Godknowswhatkindof diseases. So, he is put into a psychiatric clinic. Here he meets Lisa, a schizophrenic young woman who expresses herself only in infantile rhymes. The two youths start to feel a sympathy for each other. David's mother is unhappy with the clinics methods, and takes her son out with her. David runs away from home and returns to the clinic, only to find out that Lisa is not there any more. After a painful search, he finds her at the Museum of Modern Art, where the girl has fled after running away from the clinic. Here David lets her hold his hand without being afraid, while Lisa begins to express herself normally.
