The story of an Asian woman living in a tower-block who recycles rubbish to bring beauty to her world. But after an incident in her block, recycling takes on mythical dimensions to become the metaphor of radical selfrenewal.

"Shakti means creativity, transformative power, and is associated with female divinity. I wanted to make a film that challenges the way we look at power, solitude and creativity, and questions some of the assumptions this society makes about Asian women. In the characters silence and solitude, the carefulness and love with which she creates a private space, there is an assertion of another mode of being which is also a vital form of resistance".
